NYFW Fall 2020 was an exciting and fast week thanks to CFDA head chairman Tom Ford keeping a tight seven day schedule unlike past years which ran longer. Ford showed in LA just two nights before the Oscars so naturally his star studded audience and clientele could attend both events.
A few themes circulated throughout fall 2020 fashion week, a major one being the dark times we live in (climate change, politics) and what we can do to offset it through sustainability. These unpretty, inevitable issues were addressed by many designers, specifically Gabriela Hearst and Collina Strada who produced in revolutionary and sustainable ways to make for a smarter, cleaner and hopefully brighter future.
There was the resurgence of sexy dressing on the runway and on the street, suiting and tailored details, pleating, waist definition, the continuation of new (and old) sleeve shapes, and the influence of simple and elegant Madam Gres design and styling.
Below are my favorite looks from the week.
