I am guilty of buying inexpensive pieces that I “kind of” like because the price is enticing and it’s of the moment, maybe even too much so. The dress I am wearing in this post is one of my favorite purchases ever. And yes, I am that crazy person who keeps a mental inventory of their closet and most loved items. I remember how I felt the moment I saw it: true love. I had to have it.
Simone Rochas and J Brand did a collaboration a few years back and I totally missed it online and in stores. I found this perusing the designer/contemporary floor at Century 21* and could not walk past it. Despite its discounted price tag, it was still a substantial purchase for me a few years ago (a few hundred dollars). But, I absolutely adored the dress, so guess what? I bought it.
I feel put together and chic every time I put it on. It’s architectural yet sweet, universally flattering and like nothing I have seen out there in the attainable price point world, an lbd that’s actually black denim. If you google the collab you can still find items from the collection on ebay and Poshmark. I wasn’t able to find the dress, but the skirt and pant versions are available!
The point I am looking to convey is that it is ok to spend a few more dollars on something that you can foresee wearing for years to come, are able style different ways and makes you feel awesome.
